COMELEC clearly stated that a TV personality , may he be an entertainer,artist,host or a reporter, who endorses a candidate for the 2010 election without leaving his on-going show/s can be jailed for up to six (6) years.
After being aware of this fact, I was like “seriously???“…
I totally get their point that most of the TV personalities are not endorsing a politician because they like the latter personally, and that is indeed wrong. But I must admit that I’m disappointed with the Commission on Election for throwing regulations like this. It is, for me, very UNREASONABLE. They cannot conclude about this stuff in this way, in a general way. Their reasonings and explanations are immature.
The COMELEC is referring to all of the artists and others as if they have the same minds. They are assuming that all of the said endorsers are doing favors for candidates only because of money. It is definitely unfair and with prejudice to those artists/reporters who genuinely care for our country. Well maybe the COMELEC Law Department forgot that our mother land has democracy.
Yes indeed I feel extremely sad for the gossips that are roaming around stating that Sarah Geronimo (i’m a big fan of hers, btw :-C ), Dolphy and others were paid for endorsing Manny Villar with millions of pesos. *sad sandwich*
You know what, or should I say who annoys me the most regarding this issue? It is Jamby Madrigal. Yesterday, I heard her on the television talking with an authoritative voice that she is completely agree with the COMELEC for imposing a rule like that. I didn’t know if I should laugh or draw a frown on my face. *jajajajamby jajajajamby!* As far as I remember, she was endorsed by Judy Ann Santos and I am quite certain that she only won the election because of her. I wasn’t even aware of her existence prior to that advertisement.

It’s sad, that every time I watch the news, all I find are issues like this that irritate my mind and break my nation-lover-heart. Well anyway, no matter what the COMELEC declares, no matter what will happen to the TV personalities that are involve in this case, no matter what other politicians are saying , said or will say, at the end of the day all we can do is pray, pray and pray once more for our beloved country. _teampilipinas_
